Bridgestone Duelers
These tyres are great... quiet on road, good offroad traction and not too much wear. They are still quite responsive on bitumen and you tend to forget they are actually an A/T tyre. Plus the fact we have towed a 3 tonne caravan about 20,000 ks and they are still only about 2/3 worn.

Down right dangerous
These tyres ars down right dangerous on wet roads, I would not recommend them to anyone, you have to absolutely crawl around corners to stop them sliding out. These tyres should not be able to be sold to the public. They need to be recalled. These tyres performed just as poorly when brand new.

A good all-round tyre
I bought these tyres for the Prado at odo 200 000 km. The Prado now has 285 000 km, in about 3 years. In that time these tyre has done a trip from Southern Vic.( where we are based) to Perth and back. A trip to Cape York and straight up the centre to Darwin. So as you can see, a lot of different surfaces. How we use them? For everyday around town, the vehicle is unladen and tyre pressure is kept at around 38 psi. Three summers and three very wet winters. On tour, we have a custom set of drawers, cooking, camping and all equipment needed for an extended trip. So.. How did they preform? Well not one puncture. In the wet, they grip very well. We have had to preform a couple of emergency stops in wet conditions and obviously the tyres gripped well, we are still here. Even now at the end of their lives, we can drive on the freeway at 110km/h in heavy rain and overtake the commedore s whom have to slow down to 80km/h. Where I have been most impressed though, is on gravel and rocky roads. The softer compound rubber work well when you deflate the tyres for more grip and a bigger footprint. If you look after them ie. keep the tyre pressures even and correct, they will last and do what you need them to do. Take note, these tyres are not advertised as mud terrain tyres, so don t expect them to deliver MT traction in muddy conditions. These tyres will live out the rest of their lives on the trailer. Tomorrow we are slapping the Dueller AT 697 on the Prado. Very excited.

Beware the dealer that sells you these
My local B/S dealer sold me these on the basis they would lasy 60K. They have lasted about 35K on our Kluger with no off road work and are stuffed. Wet grip was OK at first, now gone. What the dealer didn t tell us was that while they might last, you won t be able to hear yourself think with these tyres. Noisiest tyres I have had in 20 years. Buy a bike intercom if you re thinking of these.

OK
I managed to get 40k out of my first set of these on a 03 Rodeo. I read other reviews and see complaints about road noise. I didn t expereince this maybe this was offset by the rodeo engine noise. The first set I had experienced feathering of the shoulder but by the time I noticed it was too late to rotate. I did do a substantial amount of high speed gravel driving with 50% tread left. This was done across the great central road from Laverton to Yulara. There appeared to be cutting of the tread with the rough roads but no gouging or chunks taken from the tread pattern. I did drive the majority of this route in 2WD and knew the tyres would take a hammering but they stood up to the test. In loose beach sand they perform well. They are not a high end tyre such as your Mickey Thompsons and Cooper ST s so if you plan on going somewhere you plan on getting bogged best you get the right tyre for the job. I found running around 10psi on southern WA beaches was more than ample to get to some good fishing spots with minimal concern. I have since updated to the LT version because of the deeper tread and the old set were propper buggered. the ride is a bit harder and I haven t tested on the beach but whether the compound is harder I haven t noticed any tread wear in 10,000km yet. The harder sidewalls will contribute to the harder ride but for a highway tyre I can t complain too much. Once again no real noticable roadnoise from these tyres and the extra load rating of the LT tyre means you can tow that bobcat around or super sized 5th wheeler.

Rubbish
The vehicle came with these on them from new, I then purchased the new version of the duelers when the first lot required renewal. These tyres are on a Nissan Navara Dual Cab Utility, I am a tradie and have tool boxes etc in the back so do carry a bit of weight. The tyres do not have sufficient grip in the wet so are dangerous. At about 30,000 km I have had two blow outs in the centre of the tread - these tyres have never been deflated or off road, they are always driven on sealed roads. Mileage on them is terrible and I have bought a second hand tyre until the others either blow out or wear out. I will not be purchasing this brand of tyre for my next set that s for sure. When I went to purchase the second hand tyre the guy in the tyre shop told me it was very very common for these tyres to blow out.

Excellent
Great tyre available in Passenger and LT constructuion. Great Wear and puncture resistance as well as on road handling. If your serious about off road work get the LT spec which is available in 17 it won t let you down. and especially in the 285/75R16 this tyre will last forever in terms of wear life it just goes on and on i ve heard of many people gettin gin excess of 100,000km. Enjoy.

Rubbish
I purchased a brand new ford ranger that came with these tyres and also have done 30 thousand kms with no off road driving and need new tyres, they have been rotated regularly which has made no change. They are also dangerous in the wet. I have used bridgestone all of my life and have never had a problem until now. I will never use these tyres again and will never recommend them to anyone.

Third set of these All Terrain Tyres
Purchased a full set of Five 265/65-R17 Dueler A/T D694s when I purchased my Nissan Pathfinder R51 4Wd in 2011. They lasted me for 65,000km of mostly bitumen and about 3000km of formed hard pack gravel/dirt + maybe 500-1000km of proper off road work, sand, mud, rocks etc. very happy with their performance and life span, quiet, reasonable off road ability. Probably had another 5000km left of tread, only replaced as going on an extended trip, one tyre had picked up a 5mm diameter metal spike about 6cm long and Bob Jane advised it was unrepairable. So I fitted another set of direct replacement the Dueler D697s as th D694s had been superseded. Just as happy with the D697s, this set lasted 55,000km before being replaced, with maybe 5000km still left on them for yet another set of D697s. Replaced as going on a high country trip in wet conditions towing a caravan and didn t want tyre woes. 3 times I purchased these, comparing equivalents from other brands, like Cooper, Dunlop, Maxxis, Kumho etc each time. Very competetive price from Bob Jane in Doncaster Melbourne who also do an excellent Wheel alignment for my slightly ARB 2 inch lifted car. Tyre wear has been very even on all 4 wheels.

Not the tyre....in experienced operator (with all respect)
The problem is.....you bought a jeep!! Also tyres arnt the your only issue when negotiating a bog. Consider line, momentum, tyre pressure, incline/decline, lateral angle, depth of rut, ground composition, vehicle weight and load, driver experience.... just to list some considerations. If you still havin issues have a hilux or a landy in front of ya. They ll get ya out.....a little red faced.

They start off great, handle great in wet, good stopping time, but the fast wear is not good for the money they cost, will be trying another tyre this time

These are just magic!!
A couple of years back I ventured around the big loop in my 2001 Prado and started off wearing a well known American brand of tyre that reportedly has a warranty up to 80,000 Klm. I will not go into that statement, but suffice to say that, whilst great on the black top they just did not cut the deal off road (yes of course with tyre pressures adjusted to suit) and resulted in strands of wire being pushed up through the tread on my rear tyres after less than 40,000 klm. I subsequently hobbled into Darwin and after having carried out some considerable research I ended up buying a set of Bridgestone 694 ( predecessor to the 697) and after 102,000 klm I am about to replace them, BTW they have traveled across the Savannah Way, Merinee Loop, Oodnattata Track, Birdsville Track to mention a few places and they are just nothing short of brilliant. Needless to say I have d697 on my van and will soon replace my 694 with them on my Prado. Cannot speak highly enough of them!!
