A lot of K's on & off road and never a problem
I've ran Cooper STT and St Max's on our GU patrol for over 7 years with trips to all over this country along every thinkable road surface and condition and they have performed extremely well. Excellent grip to the point that my wife has no issues driving along corrugated dirt roads, can't quite say the same for other tire combinations we have had. Only issue we had was in the N.T where one of the tires couldn't be balanced and a full new replacement was provided no questions asked. The first set we replaced at 80,000 only because again we were going remote and wanted some piece of mind.

Never failed me yet
General road diriving 4 stars. ( a little noisier than some other tyre brands. Excellent wear durability.)Wet weather road. 3.5 stars. ( they did what they needed to do but a little less grip than some others out there.)Dirt road 4.5 stars. ( They responded well in dry and fantastic in wet weather.)Off road 4x4 mode 5 stars. (Excellent grip pulled me along well, held on in tight spaces and didnt slip crossings over on logs. Still had heaps of grip with 3 wheels on the ground. )Off road clay 4x4 mode. 3.5 stars. ( i would have loved just a little more grip, i did have a little more wheel spin in very challenging areas but generally performed rather well. )Sand 3.5 stars. ( i dont mind them, they did a good job. The benefit was that i had no problems cutting my own tracks when i needed to. The down side i can feel the side wall tread trying to dig me into the sand in comparison to other brands. I do burn through a little more deisel with these tyres so i do make sure i have another jerry for long trips on sand. )I have traveled all over Australia with these tyres in all terrains and covered around 300,000 km. The tyre is an excellent compromise for all conditions and it is good to know what conditions it will perform better in. I have never tested this tyre pulling a trailer. It has carried loads on trips up to 500kg in the back. I have never had a puncture with this tyre and it's never come off the rim. On average i will get 83,000km. Obviously the more i 4x4 on rocky terrain and grind up tracks it chews the life out of them a little bit more.My next big trip i will be putting these tyres back on my vehicle as i know they will perform exactly how i need them to.I have been on trips with other "4x4ers" and can say it's not the the tyre that doesn't perform well it is their off road driving skill.

A true all terrain
If nothing else read the x factor section below. The Basics:Firstly these tyres are much more aggressive up close with almost mud tyre tread voids (not quite but definitely bigger than normal AT). Tread depth is awesome, they have some serious depth that will allow for a genuine 80 000 kms. The tyre compound is fairly hard which i have noticed as after 8000 kms i have little if any wear. I have started to achieve some wear now though with 1000 kms on corrugations. As the name suggests they perform well in all environments from beach work to rock crawling to some light work through clay pans and importantly on road as well. Price:The tyres are not cheap but as my friends with cheaper tyres from a store that rhymes with aussie tyres have realised, buying multiple sets of tyres ends up more expensive than buying quality. The tyres cost me roughly $450 aus per tyre which is not the most expensive on the market by any stretch. X Factors:For me the real selling point to the tyre was the sizes they offer. If you want a 33 wheel but are conscious of fuel economy, legalities or just can t fit it without rubbing problems then the ST Maxx has a solution for you. They offer a tyre size 255/80R17 which translates to a 33 but without the width problems that arise from 285 s. They do not look skinny and solve so many problems with no need for spacers, reduced weight, less resistance in sand, no brake upgrades required etc. The only other tyre i have seen in this size BFG KM2 s. Summary:For these reasons, i will not be trying other tyres out when these wear out as i feel like i have found the one . On top of this all of my mates are now waiting for the tyres to wear down enough so they can order some of these. A fantastic tyre, other negative reviews must have been unlucky and got a bad batch because i know nobody who has had any complaints.

What I *should* have expected.
I Have been a coopers tyre user for three vehicles now... all utes or SUVs. Probably 5 sets of tyres I guess I usually go for light truck road tyres. As Coopers last for such a long time i decided to get tyres that would be appropriate for off-roading as we plan to do some in the next year or two. I have to say it has been a rude awakening going to a more aggressive off road tred pattern. Anyone thinking of getting these tyres be warned that although they will do over 80,000klm on the tarmac they are very vague on steering and are quite slippery on gravel or dirt roads. This is exacerbated on my vehicle a 2014 76 series Landcruiser wagon. Anyone looking at these tyres for suburban or city driving take note. Some positives about the tyres is that they are very quiet and comfortable and stop the cruiser on a dime. They are certainly better in the wet than the AT/3's. But do not get these unless you are going to get serious. AT/3's are a better all road tyre and will handle quite challenging surfaces.

Awsome tyres
Have the latest Cooper ST Maxx 265/65/17r fitted to Toyota Hilux, live in Tasmania, where it gets prety wet, and from day one drove on the tyres in pouring rain, tyres where great in the wet, & ofcourse as you would expect great off road. Studied all the big brands before making my purchase like micky thompson, bf goodrige, bridgstone hankook, yokohama, ect, and when your looking to spend over $300 a tyre, you look for the tyre with the most features & benifets to you. So 1. cooper have a great agressive looking tyre. 2. cooper have 80,000 klm warranty, 3. Aromor Tek carcass construction side walls, and 4. three years of testing in the australian outback, Do the others have or pomote this ?? The choice was easy for me.

Side wall blow out!
Yes they last if you dont carry any loads or tow. 80klm on tar and exploded around outer side (5000k old ) wall have heard similar stories from caravaners. Was replaced by cooper tyres but taking them off now putting on toyo open country mt cant risk it. Maxxis bighorn are good also.

Dangerous
I have only owned 4WD in my 25 years of drivingCooper ST Max are the worst tyre I have ever used, in my opinion they make the split rim dunlop profile a master in comparison. Ok in the dirt however they are supposed to be an all-terrain, nothing short of dangerous in the wet, from day one, never again back to BFG.

S/T MAXXimum rubbish
Very expensive tyre, I still went with it, they stung me $2600, wish i didn't. I have had them just over 1 year now, travelled mostly suburban driving, I have done a few long highway drives. Off road in my once, sand once, dirt roads there have been a few.Bad in the wet. Quite noisy but i never cared about that, my radio is louder. I have no idea how good or bad they are in extreme off road conditions as i have never had a chance to use them in those conditions. Beach driving they went ok,I have had them rotated and checked at all intervals but still one has developed a crack in the side wall.. and here lies the main problem.. I have taken them to get inspected 2 times at 2 different places, been told they would contact me both times, and they never have. Complained to cooper Australia, they rang and told me it would be sorted trough a local distributor, I rang the place they wanted me to call but they had no idea what was going on, they then said they would chase it up and get back to me... shock.... they never did.Stay away, their warranty is bull, and post customer service is full of promises but no action. The guy that sold them to me assured me that they were great to deal with if any dramas arose. This is untrue.I have a friend that went a different brand a week prior to my buying these, he had some issues on 2 of his new tyres 7 months into owning them and got all 5 replaced after raising the issue with the distributor. No matter how aggressive they make the next generation look, or how good they sound on paper i shall not use them

Overpriced crap
I believed the considerable hype and bought these expensive tyres.Dangerous in the wet and prone to delaminating make them a very bad choice and the so called warranty is a joke.A friend of mine had a cruiser fitted with these too and had troubles off road with punctures and on road with grip and off course that woeful warranty. So much so that we are now telling all that will listen NOT to buy these.

Great tyres overall
Have these tyres fitted to our Prado 150 in a 265/65/17. Have been fantastic for the past 30,000kms. Only issue we've had with them is in slick, clay mud. Other than that they have been great for on road driving without any issues in the wet and a variety of off road driving from sand to high speed gravel and rocks. Will be looking to get them again although in a larger size for a bit more clearance, 275/70/17.

Good product when suited to correct purpose
Overall a pretty good product that performs very well in dirt and gravel roads. Found it very acceptable in sand but not as good as the ST /C, required a few lower psi for patrol. Have over 40k and wearing well should be good for 70-80k. Doesn't chip like the ST-C the . But requires a meticulous rotation, unlike the ST-C which wore very even and no scalloping. No punctures to date but I have not subjected the Maxx's to the tortuous terrains the previous 3 sets of coopers faced and all passed. But have faith in the brand. Due to relocation mostly do sand driving on weekends with normal highway thru week which it performs admirably. Just remember guys it is a compromise tyre, a jack of all trades master of none.

What can I say, quite, drives like a new car, stops well and looks great. Fitted to a 2004 Patrol with 80, 000 kms. Toughness and still liveable
The ST Maxx is one of few tyres that can be classified as a genuine all terrain tyre 50/50 road v offroad. Been running my set of LT265/65R17's on my Discovery 4 for around 18 months. Sure they are noisier, but look at the tread pattern and depth and one will see why. On my vehicle they have around 25k, and still look new. Every vehicle will wear differently due to factors such as weight and suspension geometry. No punchers yet when offroad. I like them, the only other true alternative is the new Bfgoodrich KO2 which has some new changes.

Great tyres, 2nd set i have owned
I have had, 5-6 sets of cooper tyres, with the last two sets being ST Max which were a vast improvement on the ST especially in the wet, road noise and wear pattern. The ST needed 5k rotations to ensure even wear, the ST Max I have done at every 10k. I got 88000km from the first set and have just sold the car with 77000km on the tyres with tread left. only one puncture in all that time and that was with high pressure driving through the bush, so my mistake. They are expensive, but never had an issue. Don't understand the reviews on here that claim to get low km as I have never had this issue and coopers have a wear guarantee on their tyres. And if you notice the tyres falling apart after 12000k why would you not take them back straight away instead of waiting for 30-40000K, does not make sense???

St max after 30 000 km
Chose S/T Maxx 285/ 75 /16 to replace MTs on V8 100 LC 100. Tyres are ok and have some good aspects. I do h way km, beach, and genearal 4wd. They balance up ok, hold pressure and alignment. Like most big 4wd tyres they need careful and regular rotation. Coopers aren t a cheap tyre but while generally good all round they have a very serious shortcoming. They are diabolically dangerous in the wet on smooth bitumen. Braking is ok, accelerating also but lateral grip is non existent. The tyre construction seems ok - no punctures and they aren t noisy and steering response is good. Wear rates are ok - I expect to see about 60 000 km. My vehicle isn t hard driven nor have the tyres done much in the way of really hard rocky roads, gnarly off road or mud. I do tow a fairly heavy camper on hols. If you need an all terrain tyre for a bigger 4wd with a bit of grunt then look elsewhere. These Coopers aren t the go for Safety! You really need to stay very alert when it s wet if you choose the S/T Maxx for a heavy 4wd. Might work for smaller 4wd but not the best option for constant 4wd cruisers.
