The Open Country Rugged Terrain (Open Country R/T) 4x4 tyre from Toyo Tires is a next-generation 4WD tyre that combines the extreme puncture resistance and strength of an M/T with the long-wearing compound and sealed road performance of an A/T to service the emerging ‘hybrid’ tyre category.
The Open Country R/T gives tough tourers the all-round performance required to reach the most remote locations with confidence, combining the best attributes of the Open Country A/T II and the Open Country M/T.

Toyo Open Country RT's Review
Great on road in wet and dry conditions. Road noise is literally non existent and personally I don't hear any noise coming from the tires at all. Off road they are perfectly fine in dry conditions but when you end up on wet dirt and especially clay they become very slippery. Climbing up steep terrain that is wet is where they let you down as they have very little grabbing ability compared to what mud terrain tires offer. On road though they are excellent and have plenty of grip in all conditions. They also work well on sand but due to the side walls being quite stiff airing down limits the tires potential to create that bigger foot print needed in certain conditions. If you're after a tire mainly for on road use and the odd off road camping trip they are fantastic. Steep wet mountainous terrain just isn't what they're made for and mud terrain tires should be on your wish list if that is your playground.

Toyo R/T very good aggressive all terrain
Versatile tyre, good on road, gravel, sand and do OK in mud/clay. Very quiet, also use slightly less fuel than my previous mud terrain tyres from a different brand.

Very happy with these tyres, travelled 4000km towing 3 ton van including 1300km on the Gibb River rd without any punctures. Haven't had the chance to try in the wet yet.

Toyo Rough Terrain great combination of tough and traction
Not too noisey, good traction, good for touring and 4WD. I am towing 3T and it handles this well so far

Early open country RT
Only early days yet but so far the open country RT's are performing exceptionally well verry quite, great on gravel and in the wet yet to test them on mud but diefently happy so far will be buying again

Great tyres surprisingly quiet with the slightest of hum around 80km which actually gets quieter above 80. Nothing like a mud tyre though you need to listen for the noise. For an aggressive type tread they wear extremely well. I’ve noticed about .4 a litre more in fuel usage per 100 km and when off road when airing down I need to go down further than my last tyres which were BFG A/T KO2. Before if I was airing down to 28 these need 24. I think this is due to the heavier carcass. I’m definitely glad I changed to these and doubt I’d go back to the BFG

Great all round tyer . More chunky than a/t tyers but not as aggressive as m/t tyers . But still look big and chunky very quiet and smooth on the road but plenty of grip to handle the trails and mud
