Great Value Tyre I've been running a set of 235/70R/16 Maxxis Bravo HT-750 on a 2006 Toyota Kluger CVX for 8 months and 9,500 kms.I was sceptical about buying my first set of Maxxis, as there were differing reviews on where they are made. Some people were saying Chin ... I've been running a set of 235/70R/16 Maxxis Bravo HT-750 on a 2006 Toyota Kluger CVX for 8 months and 9,500 kms.I was sceptical about buying my first set of Maxxis, as there were differing reviews on where they are made. Some people were saying China, others saying Korea.Well, I can confirm that mine are clearly stamped 'Made in Taiwan' on the sidewall.The original Toyo's that came factory fitted (225/70r/16) were [censored word removed]. They wore badly, and in wet weather at roundabouts would give horrible understeer if cornering at normal safe speeds. They were only good in a straight line, and I can only assume they were matched to the vehicle for a good fuel economy sticker.I replaced those after 28,000 kms with a set of Yokohama Geolander G012 in 235/70R/16 for some occasional country driving on dirt tracks and gravel roads.The Yokahamas are more of an off-road tyre and were ok until really bad tyre noise appeared on the tar after about 35,000 kms and 75% worn. Fuel economy was also pretty poor with the Geolanders.This vehicle rarely sees a dirt track these days, so it was time to look for a low noise comfortable highway tyre with good grip, good wear characteristics, not too expensive and a good record of user reviews.Gotta say, I do a fair bit of research when making purchases, and I think I made the right choice with the Maxxis.They have worn 1.1mm and quite uniform in 9,500kms which in theory, should give me between 70-80,000 kms before they need to be replaced. That's pretty good on a full-time AWD as they can be quite harsh on tyres.The 750 Bravos are very smooth and responsive, and have a lot more wet grip than both the Toyos and the Yokahamas. They also seem to be better engineered in the sidewall so the vehicle is more stable through the corners but at the same time will absorb bumps and potholes better than the latter two.I've found the best pressure to run in the Maxxis is 36psi front and rear.The Toyo's and the Yokahamas needed 39psi or they would roll too much on the rims through corners which made for a harsh ride over bumps etc.The Maxxis are super quiet and took a minimal amount of lead to balance.I've seen weights nearly a third of the way around the the rims on some vehicles running BF Goodridges. Yuk!I got the best fuel economy from the original Toyos but again, these were 225/70r/16.The Yokahamas must have a high rolling resistance and my economy blow out by about 15% over the Toyos.Fuel economy with the Maxxis is about 3% worse than the Toyos but 12% better than the Yokahamas.Given they are 235's, it's understandable and acceptable for the larger footprint on the road.A very happy customer so far!
