I replaced the stock Yokohama Geolanders when they died after 79,000km on a rocky Tasmanian backroad. I've since passed 92,000km on the CS5s, and they are, in every respect, the best touring tyre I've owned. I'm about to replace them with a fresh set in the next few days, as they've just now worn down to the wear indicator blocks.
Wear, handling - on both wet and dry tarmac - and road noise has been excellent, and these tyres impart a general feeling of 'sure-footedness'.
During the four years' life of these tyres, my driving has been on roughly 85% tarmac and 15% dirt spanning both Victoria and Tasmania (18 months and 3 years respectively).

My first set of Coopers, mostly on road use but also push them off road for 80,000ks. Rotated, balanced, check / adjust pressure and aligned regularly. Now down to 1.4mm on inside edge due to having had bad alignment for a while apparently. Unrepairable puncture in one tyre on harsh off road track with sharp shale rocks during drought period, thats my fault not the tyre's issue, they are a road tyre after all... Sure the car has traction control and ABS, but still, you don't know you have these tyres on the car, highway, around town, or in the bush they are quiet, stick to the road and give a very comfortable ride. They are not low profile performance tyres, so they handle accordingly if you throw it around in corners in a heavy SUV. As 2 have just failed rego check (after 80k+) I'll be replacing them with Cooper ATTs to hopefully lessen the chance of unwanted punctures in the bush in future.
Would absolutely buy the CS5's again - they are much nicer and better value then the original tyres fitted to territories.

Good wear, little noise, grips well in all conditions. The tyres are good to drive on and improve the drivability of an older car. So far I have put 12000km on them and their is very little evidence of wear.

Excellent tyre in the wet and dry, deep treads that prevented me from having and almost certain smash whilst towing a caravan in a recent trip to the top end. I was looking for a well priced tyre that could deliver good mileage and not get punctures ie, has a very strong tread construction including thicker steel belts to withstand punctures. These tyres are quite and the car now feels planted to the road giving me the confidence whilst cornering that I never felt with the Hankooks. All round the best value for money in a car tyre. I will definitely buy Coopers again.

I spend a lot of time on highways so a 90/10 tyre (90%roads, 10% sand and mud) suited my needs.Everything I've heard about Coopers Tyres led me to initially considering the CS4.The CS5 is actually the successor to the CS4 and it incorporates several refinements that make the CS5 even better.The CS5 has fantastic directional stability - the best I've felt and it has totally changed how the car handles. The vertical sidewalls mean that the handling is a lot more positive.There is next to no road noise and we've been very impressed with the quiet comfortable ride.I am expecting the tyres to wear well as they are constructed of a double silica compound that reduces rolling resistance and will also help fuel economy.We've yet to try the tyre off the road but indications are that it will live up to the Coopers reputation.The CS5 has a nifty new tyre wear indicator embedded in the tread that uses symbology to indicate the level of wear on the tyre - another new feature that the CS4 didn't have.OVerall, this seems a great tyre. At $265 each (for the 225/55 x 18) they weren't cheap, but I have always believed that with tyres, you definitely get what you pay for.The CS5 seems like a great tyre and I expect it will be very popular with SUV owners.

After wearing out two sets of Yokahama's in less than 35,000kms each set, I looked for a tyre that would give better mileage. But, first let's remember, only a few years ago SUV tyres cost in most instances over $300 each. This is what motivated me.Advice I got from the Cooper dealer in Goulburn NSW was to fit CS4 because they were giving better mileage on Subaru all wheel drives, which had the same tendency as XC90 to be hard on tyres, especially European brands.55,000kms ago, I fitted CX4 and they will be replaced with a set of CX5's in March. FYI... I'm happy with this mileage. To expect more would be unrealistic because there is a trade off with long mileage tyres and traction.If you want good grip, don't buy a long mileage tyre. It's that simple. Also, keep an eye on wear to ensure you have the right pressure, because under pressure the shoulders will wear while over pressure - the centres will wear. And, you should rotate every 8 - 10,000kms front to back then cris-cross the next time. I've had wheel alignment checked annually.A point to understand about XC90. It is an all wheel drive vehicle that weighs 2,3 tonnes. in case you don't know that is heavy compared to most cars today, so the tyre you pick needs to deal with the stresses placed on them by a heavy all wheel drive. Another point. Volvo never promotes the XC90 to be a high performance car so if you drive hard like a boy racer while looking out for police cars and expect good handling etc, I suggest you buy another more suitable car. If you drive an XC90 hard, high fuel consumption and tyre wear will be theprice paid.It is April 5 2017 and I've discovered since my last comment praising Cooper Tyres that other manufacturers have caught up in terms of durability and price.Last week, I had Michelin Primacy SUV fitted for two reasons. 1) Price was much cheaper vs. Cooper and (2) after consulting with Michelin Australia, I was assured that Primacy SUV is capable of 50 - 60,000 kms when managed properly. That means: maintain correct pressures, annual alignment checks and rotations every 10,000kms.This news might surprise you... The best service and pricing I found at Costco. Also, when you buy a full set of new tyres from them, you get free rotations and puncture repairs for the life of those tyres.I hope this update is of assistance to readers.

Would have been 5 Stars, see the Q&A under the CS5 question regarding the Subaru XV on my resolving initial noise due to the injection molding strips requiring triming and install balance issues fixed 100% by having the tyres " Road force balanced " by Bob Jane Wollongong on a Hunter balancing machine, this fix was found after reading US reviews on the CS5s and found it a common fix for SUV tyres that were difficult to balance on standard machines.During a recent 4K km holiday we tested these in nearly all conditions except snow and were glad we had fitted the CS5 GTs with their deep treaded high Silica M+S 90/10 rated tyres prior to leaving, not only are these tyres smooth and quiet on the highways and most road surfaces the also proved sure footed early morning on a freezing wet slippery winding Alpine Pass and on dirt and gravel roads I was please to note they collected far less or zero gravel unlike the OEM Yoki Geolander G95s.We were also caught on the road travelling from South West Victoria to SA's Barossa in the middle of their 50yr Storm event that blacked out the entire state finding the combination of our Subaru XVs full time AWD and these CS5s reassuringly safe and secure through vision limiting downpours with inch plus fast running water across the roads and gale force buffeting winds.Would I buy these again, yes unless maybe Cooper release CS6s by the time the CS5s wear out which should be 80,000kms though would insist they be RF Balanced straight away.

Done 40,000 km and they are buggered. We are farmers and most of the km's are on bitumen apart from the 5km of gravel road to our farm.These 2 tyre brands have been the best handling and wearing tyre we have tried. The original Continentals handled great but hardly lasted 20.000km. Done 285.000km in Volvo and it's still going strong and handles wet gravel roads extremely well.

We'd been fans of Cooper Tyres on our 2009 X Trail after scrapping the awful original equipment Dunlops that got us just 34000 Km. The first set of Cooper CS4's got us over 93000Km. However the second were packing it in at just 59000 Km. The dealers claimed it was our fault, that we had used incorrect tyre pressures. We hadn't varied the pressures since we bought the car ... and they had serviced the tyres on schedule ... so we wonder ....Anyway, the Coopers definitely had the runs on the board ... so we changed dealers (and are glad we did), and moved to the newer CS5 profile which had superceded the previous CS4 model.The difference on collection of the car was immediately noticeable ... the most profound change being the sensation that the car was running on greased railway tracks - no other way I can describe it. The rolling resistance seemed lower, and even the tiniest steering input resulted in razor slick response. I've never experienced this sensation in this vehicle before.Left it until we'd done 2000Km to report back ... just in case this was just that magic "new tyre" feeling ... but nope - it's still there.So in a blend of roughly 40% good tarmac, 30% crappy, 20% decent gravel road, and 10% rough/corrugated, we still have utter confidence in this latest CS Touring update. Easily as good as its predecessors so far ... but to be fair, we haven't faced any emergency avoidance situations as yet. No signs of any problems though, and it looks as if Coopers have in fact managed to eke more improvement from what was already a good platform.

This information is in addition to my earlier Review of the CS4. The performance of the CS5 fitted to Hyundai IX35 Highlanderis even better that the CS4. The tyre pressure F 44psi and R 42psi provides excellent handling capability with low noise, the noise is mainly from the road surface. The journey over the Hay plain (4 x PY) each way is bit noisy as the "GOAT" track that is road is in POOR. The wear profile for my driving is 0.9mm for 20,000Km which should give me in excess of 110,000km compared to CS4 which reflected 90,000km. Cooper CS5 is very good tyre the price I paid is lower than what I paid for originally fitted to Hyundai IX35 Highlander.
