A brand I never liked isn't that bad really
I bought goodyear Eagle F1 directional tyres, mainly based on convenience and price. I've never been a big fan of good year tyres, but these are well suited to the car. I always felt that goodyear tyres didn't seem to grip especially in wet weather, but these ones have proven me wrong. For every day use, they are more than adequate, on "spirited" drives they are reasonable offering predictable grip and stability in both wet and dry conditions. I'm now on my second set and overall, they are good bang for your buck, especially when they come as buy 4 tires and pay for 3 deal.

Extremely Happy
These tyres have saved my life. They have the ability to hold my car to the road on the sharpest of corners. Wet roads haven't been an issue. Im very lucky my husband researched tyres and found these . I feel much saferon the road. Friends have asked what are they like an where I got them just on their look alone.

Grand tour staple.
My first encounter with the quality of this tyre was an emergency replacement for a full set of firestones while on a driving holiday to Tasmania. Fitted the day before the ferry ride after a catastrophic failure of the other brand, they were an absolute pleasure to use on the variety of roads Tasmania offers. The car at that time was a rare Toyota SERA. Light, nimble, but not stretching the tyres in any manner, on any sealed road in any weather type. When the car was replaced by the more powerful nissan I decided to continue the relationship with the tyres and see if they would continue to exceed expectations on a car that could explore the extremes of their design. I am happy to say they have easily enhanced the experience in the 350z on everything from track days to grand tours covering a couple of states. Only once so far have I experienced a "wake up to yourself" moment whilst driving solo in a torrential downpour on a favourite winding hill climb. The aquaplane was noted but controlled thanks far more to the tyres than my skills or any rudimentary driving aides on the car. Wear is very good as the sizing cannot be rotated, and balance intervals not onerous. It is easy to recommend these tyres as a strong alternative to directional tyres from other more expensive brands on a car, and driving styel that demands performance. Plenty of grip inspiring confidence.

Over 70,000kms now.
I have a full set on a 2007 Subaru Legacy. I ve never lost traction, wet or dry, and I don t drive like a nanna. I bought my 205/50R17s for $160 NZD each and my only problem is that they re double the price now! It would be an easy decision to replace with the same tyre if they weren t so expensive. Not sure whether other brands will last as long though.

Good handling but terrible wear.
These came highly recommended but quite expensive. The handling is great in both wet and dry and minimal road noise. The shock came when I went back to Beaurepaires to have them rotated and balanced. He said the rear tyres are almost due for replacement after only 13000 kms! He said they re more worn than the fronts. I realise they re performance tyres but in the size that I need, 235/45 x 18, there s not a lot of choice. I drive a 2012 Ford Mondeo and I m far from a high performance driver. I drive around the metro area with the occasional country trip. I bought these on interest free finance so will be paying the bloody things off after I buy new ones. Never again. I m going for something cheaper next time, which will probably last twice as long.

good in dry but not so great in wet
Tyres fitted to 175kw front wheel drive Mitsi 380 (1600kgs or so) and have no complaints about dry grip, seem to be lasting better than the F1GSD3s I had prevoiusly. Steering feel in the dry seems as good as the GSD3s. Main reason I bought them was to match the wet grip of the GSD3s but they have never been as good. The GSD3s were made in Germany whilst the D5s are made in China and it seems from the wear and the lack of wet grip that they have used a harder compound. I find that they spin easily in the wet and are no match for the GSD3s which gripped exceptionally well in the wet, right down to the wear bars. It is easy to lose the front on cambered roundabouts but in saying that, they are fairly easy to gain control back. They a good tyre but not up to the standard of the GSD3 and I will look for something else at replacement time. Prob suit a FWD which is lighter in the front end and maybe less powerful. My Driving style prob plays a factor but then you dont buy these tyres to drive like a nanna.

Very happy with these tyres
I got four of these on as a set at a really good price. Made in Thailand but as soon as they put a full set(4) on the car it was obvious these are much better then the previous set. The car brakes, and corners much better, rain or shine. I have been using these for a little over two years and done about 30000 km. Would buy again for sure.

Great tyre for performance car
I bought the tyre last year and was installed on my MY12 WRX. A year after I upgrade my car to WRX STi and installed the tyre on aftermarket rims. Bring the car for track day and utilise it for daily driving with no issue at all. I pushed the car hard on track and the tyre doing what it can do to maintain the stability of the car. Had no issue on hard breaking and hard cornering. Good tyre with good price.

Lasted forever
Had these on my 2011 wrx. Great grip for first 80000km. Only just replaced at 100,000km due to running over a piece of metal and one going flat. And that wasnt the easiest 100000km. So great tyres. I am trying a softer grippier tyre next time tho so i know they wont last as long

Over one year later
Well had the F1 s now for over a year and they really are a good tyre. Great turn in, handling braking and quiet and so far, after about 15000 km still little noticeable wear. I am running 36psi front and 33 back - seems to give a neutral stance and not a harsh ride. Bump this up to 38/35 and you notice the bumps. Just installed a hd sway bar on the back and the change was very subtle and nothing appeared to change, but the car just goes through a corner much faster, but with no change of behaviour. Great! I suppose there is a better tyre out there somewhere for the price, but that will have to wait until these wear out

Great tyre, great price
I find my car using the goodyear eagle f1 directional 5 is alot smoother, quieter and more responsive than the dunlop sport maxx that the vehicle came out of the factory with.. These dunlops were a very good tyre but i would defiently purchase the goodyear next time.. I highly recommendedthese tyres...

Great Tyre, Lower road noise
Noticeably quieter tyre than the dunlops sp sport 600 that were originally on the car. Great handling tyre and have had them on the car for 4 years now. They still have plenty of tread left on them & I ve put them through some harsh corners. Overall they are a great tyre and reasonably priced
