Great Product
The original tyres on the vechile were dunlops but i changed to Coopers ( i had heard that Bridgestone were noisy ). The tyres have only done 25,000 kilometers so far, handling has been good with very little road noise, wear seems to be even with plenty of tread left. I dnt know if they`ll last 80,000k? will be interesting to see.

Cooper Tyres Superior
I ve used most of the major manufacturers off road brands, having lived in the Kimberley and Arnhem Land for the past 8 years driving on 90% gravel, rock, sand and mud, I have found that Cooper STT Pro and ST Maxx to be just a better tyre all round. The Gibb River road is hard on tyres, the evidence is visible for all to see, yet the Coopers that we ran, not once let us down. I will continue to use Coopers Tyres on all of our vehicles, Highly recommended.

Cooper ST/ Maxx
I have now driven 15,000 Kms on these tyres and before I continue, I am not a Coopers fan, but with these tyres I have complete confidence in them, they are a very good all round tyre if you are looking for a 50 / 50 on/off road tyre. They are a little noisy at 100Kms, but with an agressive tread you would expect that, but the road noise is not obtrusive and that is in a Land Rover Defender! The tyres grip well off road, lose gravel roads at 80Kph they feel totally safe, clean themselves well in the mud, handle well the wet sticky clay and grip the blacktop well even in the wet . If you push any tyre hard enough in the wet it will slip but as I "Drive to the road conditions" and I am not interested in trying to out do the sports car in the roundabout I have complete confidence in them. I will definatly buy them again. They are expensive but you get what you pay for. They balanced well and they are round unlike some ultra-cheap asian tyres, which when you put them on the rim, look a bit like an egg. Sure you can balance tyres like this, but an egg is still an egg. They do like being at the correct pressure for the particular terain they are working in to preform at their best, so you must watch the pressure. I follow the 4psi rule and it works very well for me.

Simply dependable.
These tyres are awesome,I rotate my wheels every 10,000km and my last set lasted 105k, unfortunately I use these for mostly road use because theres simply no time to get away. Wet road grip is faultless and I found the treads spit mud out freely on nasty tracks. These are awesome on gravel tracks and despite the sharp rocks have never had a leak if you adjust the presures to approximatelt 22psi. Buy these and you will never regret it......they look chunky and good too.

Great tyres. Good warranty.
Hi, We purchased 10 Cooper ST-Maxx 265 65 17. 5 for the vehicle, 5 for the Off road Caravan. we have so far covered around 40000km on the tyres. No chips or cracks. We have been to Oodnadatta, Birdsville, Flinders, Lawn Hill, Cape York, Chilli Beach, The Kimberley s, Buchanan Hwy, Karijini etc. No punctures. Had a problem with 1 tyre with the bead but it was promptly replaced under warranty in Mt. ISA. Very happy with the tyres and will replace with the same when these are worn.

Ok, but not in the wet.
I have had the older ST's on a patrol and now have the ST max on a 200 series. Noisy yes, but not as bad as muddies. Noisier than AT's but they are ST's for a reason. Coopers make an AT too. With both old and new ST's I found them very slippery when wet, and a problem with 3 ton of caravan behind. Takes a bit to knock Toyo AT's from top spot in my opinion. These don't quite do it.

Great
265/70 R17 on dual cab ute.First set did 86,000km, probably 10,000km on dirt - mostly fire trails and unsealed roads through South AustraliaRotated every 10,000kmNo punctures or issues, and wore very well, slight increase in noise for standard H/T tyres, to be expected.Pricey compared to others though.

A true all terrain
If nothing else read the "x factor" section below. The Basics:Firstly these tyres are much more aggressive up close with almost mud tyre tread voids (not quite but definitely bigger than normal AT).Tread depth is awesome, they have some serious depth that will allow for a genuine 80 000 kms.The tyre compound is fairly hard which i have noticed as after 8000 kms i have little if any wear. I have started to achieve some wear now though with 1000 kms on corrugations. As the name suggests they perform well in all environments from beach work to rock crawling to some light work through clay pans and importantly on road as well.Price:The tyres are not cheap but as my friends with cheaper tyres from a store that rhymes with aussie tyres have realised, buying multiple sets of tyres ends up more expensive than buying quality. The tyres cost me roughly $450 aus per tyre which is not the most expensive on the market by any stretch.X Factors:For me the real selling point to the tyre was the sizes they offer. If you want a 33" wheel but are conscious of fuel economy, legalities or just can't fit it without rubbing problems then the ST Maxx has a solution for you. They offer a tyre size 255/80R17 which translates to a 33" but without the width problems that arise from 285's. They do not look skinny and solve so many problems with no need for spacers, reduced weight, less resistance in sand, no brake upgrades required etc. The only other tyre i have seen in this size BFG KM2's.Summary:For these reasons, i will not be trying other tyres out when these wear out as i feel like i have 'found the one'. On top of this all of my mates are now waiting for the tyres to wear down enough so they can order some of these. A fantastic tyre, other negative reviews must have been unlucky and got a bad batch because i know nobody who has had any complaints.

St max after 30 000 km
Chose S/T Maxx 285/ 75 /16 to replace MTs on V8 100 LC 100.Tyres are ok and have some good aspects. I do h way km, beach, and genearal 4wd. They balance up ok, hold pressure and alignment. Like most big 4wd tyres they need careful and regular rotation. Coopers aren't a cheap tyre but while generally good all round they have a very serious shortcoming. They are diabolically dangerous in the wet on smooth bitumen. Braking is ok, accelerating also but lateral grip is non existent. The tyre construction seems ok - no punctures and they aren't noisy and steering response is good. Wear rates are ok - I expect to see about 60 000 km. My vehicle isn't hard driven nor have the tyres done much in the way of really hard rocky roads, gnarly off road or mud. I do tow a fairly heavy camper on hols.If you need an all terrain tyre for a bigger 4wd with a bit of grunt then look elsewhere. These Coopers aren't the go for Safety! You really need to stay very alert when it's wet if you choose the S/T Maxx for a heavy 4wd. Might work for smaller 4wd but not the best option for constant 4wd cruisers.

After sales service
Three years ago I purchased 5 Cooper ST Maxx 285 x70 R17.They had travelled 65K on all terrains & had been rotated every 8-10k. A 50mm tear developed in the side wall of one tyre, and two other tyres developed smaller 5-10 mm splits. All on the white letter side. The tyres were inspected by Coopers SA representative. All tyres replaced. The cost to me was approximately 1/3 the new tyre price, with a fourth tyre purchased at a very good price to give me a set of 4. A+++ to Coopers for their after sales service & guarantee & to Bridgestone Victor Harbor.

35000 k's so far and never missed a beat
Had the old style A/T's on my Patrol never a problem. Traded her in on a Prado and popped a set of S/T MAXX on it. Highway is quiet, good on a wet road, Sandy beaches are no problem on Fraser, Out to Longreach and beyond towing a 21ft caravan. Never had so much as a puncture.I see comments such as Dangerous in the wet or No good for mud, and punctured on a rocky track etc. super important to make sure your tyre pressures are right for the environment your driving. You simply can't put 40 odd psi in your tyres and expect to drive anywhere. 28 for rocky terrain, 18 for beach and 40 for highway has always been my guide. Works for me and has for 30+ years. When these Coopers wear out there will definitely be another set going on.
